Cantonese Steamed Radish Cake and Pumpkin Cake. Fresh ingredients without any premix batter. Classic Cantonese dim sum dish and Chinese New Year favorite!
Turnip cake is a Chinese dim sum dish. The less commonly used radish cake is a more accurate name, as Western-style turnips are not used in the dish but rather shredded radish and plain rice flour. It is traditionally called carrot cake in Singapore.

Understanding the theory, ingredients and learn the skills and technique in making both kinds of traditional steamed cakes – Cantonese Steamed Radish Cake (港式萝卜糕) and Ah Ma’s Pumpkin Cake (金瓜糕)
- Preparing and cutting all the vegetables and fillings.
- Preparing and mixing the batter for both Radish Cake and Pumpkin Cake.
- Cook under hook, and Steam in the steamer for both Radish Cake and Pumpkin Cake.
- Take note of the do’s and don’t in cooking and steaming both Radish Cake and Pumpkin Cake.
- Learn different ways to consume these steamed cakes.
- Bring home both Radish Cake and Pumpkin Cake made in class and share with family / friends.
