Soon Kueh (笋粿)
Soon Kueh – Teo-Chew’s White rice skin & Cantonese’s Crystal Skin.
A type of steamed dumpling in Teochew and Cantonese cuisine. The dumpling is stuffed with the main ingredients using julienned jicama, and is then wrapped in a skin made of rice and tapioca flour before steaming. Popular in Singapore as breakfast, tea-break and snack.
Duration: Total approx 4 hours
WHAT YOU LEARN
Understanding the theory, ingredients and learn the skills and technique in making 2 types of local delights: White rice skin Teo-Chew and Cantonese Crystal Skin Soon Kueh.
- Preparing and kneading both type of skin.
- Preparing, cutting, seasonings the filling ingredients.
- Pan-fry the fillings.
- Wrap and steam two different types of Soon Kueh.
- Bring home and share with family.

- Individual station. No sharing with other participants. 100% Hands-on.
